Victoria Golf Club Weddings | S&B | Wedding Photographer
S&B, like many couples, had to decide whether a socially distanced wedding was right for them and their wedding venue, the Victoria Golf Club. They decided without much ado that love shouldn’t have to wait, and they went ahead with a socially distanced pandemic wedding in September. Indoor weddings/receptions have been few and far between but if anyone knows how to pull one off, it’s this venue.
S&B met through mutual friends while watching the Canada Day fireworks back in 2011, but quickly realized this wasn’t the first time they had been encouraged to meet by their friends. Their friends knew what they were doing and 9 years later they are still going strong.
Their wedding day was relaxed and elegant. We arrived to capture some getting ready photos and moments with them and their families before whisking them off for their wedding party portraits around Oak Bay. The weather was perfect, and we basked in the last of the summer sun while sharing some laughs together.
Their sunny socially distanced ceremony took place at the Victoria Golf Club at the 18th hole, overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca. We shared in a magical moment mid-ceremony when three southern resident killer whales graced us with their presence right at the moment S&B said their vows (they missed the whole show!). It was then that we knew that they for sure made the right call on going forward with their wedding. We followed their ceremony up with some golf cart adventures (my new favourite thing) and some additional sunset portraits before their reception at the clubhouse.
Here’s a peek at their socially distanced wedding (and some whale friends!).
