Adrienne & Gregor’s chose to elope to Vancouver Island at Mystic Beach and Kitty Islet, near Victoria BC. Their intimate springtime west coast ceremony involved just the two of them, two witnesses, their officiant and photographer (me!). They said their vows at Kitty Islet, and we took off to Mystic Beach for their photos and “reception”, involving cake, dancing and a hike through the old growth forest on the Juan de Fuca trail near Jordan River, BC.

I am always in awe of the gorgeous landscape at Mystic Beach. It’s waterfall makes a stunning backdrop for photos, but timing it for the right lighting is everything – ensuring you don’t end up hiking through the silent forest in the dark at the end of your photoshoot or to the beach at dawn. Planning for a moderately strenuous hike in and out is also important! This trail isn’t for the faint of heart, as it has many ups and downs, and muddy patches. Luckily Adrienne & Gregor were more than up for the adventure (even with Adrienne in her second trimester with their baby!). I am so grateful they chose to bring me on this adventure with them.
