Weddings Sooke BC | D&J | Sooke Prestige Resort Photographer

D&J travelled to Sooke BC for their intimate elopement at the Sooke Prestige Resort, and I had the pleasure of photographing their special day (and witnessing their ceremony as well). Like a lot of plans in 2020, D&J’s dream wedding with their families got sidelined – but their elopement day turned out to be an epic and adventure filled afternoon that they got to fully experience every second of.

D&J met on Bumble and hit it off so well, they kept seeing each other regularly. J proposed at their home after a fancy anniversary dinner out, surprising D with flowers and her engagement ring when they arrived at home that night.

I met J as he was awaiting D’s finishing touches in the hotel lobby. We took some photos outside D as she was getting ready with her talented hair and makeup team and we photographed some of the anticipation before she got to see her soon-to-be husband for the first time. Their intimate ceremony in the gazebo couldn’t have any guests, so they tied the knot over zoom with their families and friends, with myself and another vendor as witnesses. It was a uniquely 2020 wedding, but so beautiful and meaningful with so many opportunities to do things their own way and take it all in.  We followed it up with champagne toasts over zoom, and a cake cutting in their hotel room, before adventuring off to East Sooke Park for their portraits, where we encountered a seal and some stunning landscapes before getting caught in the rain.
