Hi! I’m Heather
I live in Victoria, BC, although I am from the east coast and have moved around more than most (settled now and happy for it!)
I was told from age 5 or 6 how creative I was. We were not well off, but my family managed to put me in art classes and it became a love that has lasted all these years, and is still going strong.
I picked up my first camera when I was 11, taking photos of my puppy and my friends in front of blankets as backdrops.
In high school I decided to try a photography class, and learned the basics early on, using black and white film and developing the photos myself in the darkroom. By University, I had decided to pursue photography and art.
In 2011 in California I made my hobby a passion, and shortly after, my passion also became my job. I started photographing weddings right away as I was planning my own – I loved tiny details and sentimental moments. I also loved connecting with new people and getting excited with them for the best day ever, over and over again.
I had a pivotal life turned upside down moment in 2012, losing my sister who was 9 years younger than me. I learned hard and fast that the moments we have aren’t a given, and they shouldn’t be taken for granted. We had no family photos together. Two months after her passing, it was a meaningful photo of her that sat on the front chair at my own wedding. Photographing fleeting moments became my entire purpose.
I have been photographing weddings and portraits full time since 2017. My whole heart and livelihood put into this passion of mine. These days I photograph both digital and film (film is reserved for fun whimsical loss of control).
I have since created my own little family, and take no shortage of photographs. But what’s most important to me is printing them, sharing them, connecting through reminiscing over them. They are visible in my daily life as a reminder of how short life is.
I want you to embrace and celebrate your love for your people in a real and organic way, too. Let me make sure you remember it.

GROUNDED INTENTION
I’m here for the people who aren’t afraid to show their people they love them. Thoughtful gestures, outward expressions of appreciation, gratitude and joy. People who value memories and the importance their intentional photos will be for generations to come (especially in a word of disposable images).
I’ll bring calm energy, organization and expertise so all of the moments with me alongside you are well spent and memorable. I always aim to return to the simplicity of human connection in everything I do.

I’M A PROUD NEWFOUNDLANDER
I fell in love with the PNW during University (UVic BFA) and now live in Victoria BC permanently, but my heart remains deeply rooted in the North Atlantic (put me amongst a group of east-coasters and I’ll let the accent out!)
02.
I ELOPED IN ICELAND
We decided to get married during a global pandemic and took off to Iceland with our photographer only and eloped in the continental divide in the freezing rain. No regrets! (we took this photo a couple of days later on our portrait adventure session!)

ANIMALS LOVE ME & I LOVE THEM BACK
Cats, dogs, even kids. They all flock to me and I don’t mind one bit! I’ll always stop to pet the animals and have a little snuggle.

IN MY SPARE TIME…
You’ll find me spending time with my baby girl, traveling, making art, learning to play piano, reading a novel (sci-fi, classics, modern lit), at a concert, or on the couch with my fam watching wonderfully bad reality TV or crime dramas. I also eat a lot of sweets.

I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHED OVER 300 WEDDINGS.
And every single story is unique and sticks with me. I try to approach every day differently, even if I have photographed the same venue 20 times. The people and the connections fuel your photos and how I tell the story of your day.
People ask my about my craziest wedding or whether I get sick of it, but truth be told, I don’t and my weddings aren’t that crazy! I attribute that to my wonderful couples.
My favourite thing about the job is running into past couples in real life, becoming friends after their big day, or seeing their little families grow.
