Nanaimo Wedding Photographer | B&E | Roberts Memorial Park Elopement

Brianna and Evan’s wedding is a testament to persistence and resilience in the face of challenge and distance. Their elopement took place in May just outside of Nanaimo at Roberts Memorial Park, with only each other, a witness, their minister and myself in attendance. Their wedding vision originally involved all of their family and friends on the coast of California in Santa Barbara. With Evan in Nanaimo and Briana in California, planning a wedding cross-border was a feat in itself.

When their initial venue cancelled their wedding booking, they scrambled to plan another wedding around a new venue in Cali. Just as they were relieved that things were finally going according to plans, COVID-19 happened. Briana and Evan were faced with a split second decision: stay apart, postponing their plans to marry and finally be together in one place indefinitely, or hop on a plane and take life by the reigns. Briana chose Evan. She packed a backpack and carry on with whatever she could carry before the Canada-USA border closed and booked one of the last flights she could to BC.

When she arrived, she was faced with 14 days of self-quarantine. She decided then that they would no longer wait to marry and the day she came out of quarantine would be the first day of their married lives. She planned as best as she could with our help, scrambling to find a wedding dress in under two weeks with no fitting, and pulled off their elopement at the lush Roberts Memorial Park near Nanaimo. B&E are proof that any wedding day can be beautiful and meaningful with the right ingredients and two people that simply love each other more than the ideal of the ‘perfect wedding’. Congrats you two!
