Quidi Vidi Engagement Photography | N&M | St. John’s NL Photographer

I met up with N & M in Quidi Vidi Village just after a fresh snowstorm for one of those classic Newfoundland winter walks. We wandered past the colourful fishing stages, with Mallard Cottage in the background, looped by Quidi Vidi Brewery, and had a coffee at the picnic tables right on the wharf — cold hands, warm drinks, and a lot of laughing in between.

This is exactly why I always encourage couples to do something during their engagement session instead of just showing up to stand and pose. Walking, grabbing a coffee, exploring somewhere meaningful, or even just wandering your favourite neighbourhood gives you something real to focus on. It takes the pressure off, helps you relax faster, and the photos end up feeling much more natural because you’re actually interacting instead of wondering what to do with your hands.

If you’re planning your own session, think about what feels like a normal date for you — coffee stop, brewery visit, coastal walk, skating, bookstore browsing, takeout on the beach — those little personal choices always make the photos feel more like you.

Already counting down to photographing their wedding this summer in St. John’s! Thanks for having me you two!
