In-Home Newborn | Baby Boy E | St. John’s NL Newborn Photos
This little guy might win the award for one of the sleepiest newborns I’ve ever photographed. Baby E didn’t open his eyes once during our entire in-home session in St. John’s, which made for an incredibly smooth, relaxed morning capturing all those curled-up, brand-new details.
He wasn’t the only one interested in the camera, though — his dog brother and cat sister were both very determined to be part of the action (and especially interested in the bassinet I brought along). Pets are always welcome at newborn sessions, and honestly they usually add some of the most memorable moments.
Families often ask about timing for newborn photos. Many sessions happen around the one-week to ten-day mark, but there’s absolutely flexibility — sessions can comfortably take place in the weeks following birth as well. The goal is simply choosing a time when everyone feels settled enough for a calm morning at home.
If you’re preparing for an in-home newborn session, keeping clothing and wraps simple makes a big difference. Neutral tones, soft textures, and solid-colour swaddles photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby rather than busy patterns. I also bring a few basic linens and a simple bassinet, so even if your home setup is minimal, we always have clean, natural options ready to use.
Baby E made this one exceptionally easy. Hopefully he gives his parents similar treatment going forward!
