BC Wedding Photographer | Northern Rockies Lodge Muncho Lake | A&L
A&J had one dream for their wedding & wedding photography, to get married on the shore of a remote BC lake with their immediate families present. Muncho Lake to be exact! Heard of it? Either did I! When I did a search on google maps, I was shocked to see just how far north their location was. Challenge accepted. And so, I set on an adventure to photograph their wedding in the northernmost part of Canada that I have worked to date!
Muncho Lake is stunning. To get there I flew from Victoria, BC to Vancouver (having my flight cancelled from Vancouver to Fort St John that day, and got stuck in Van overnight). I slept, was just a little nervous (understatement) about getting to Fort St John, but finally boarded my flight and was on my way. Thankfully I knew the challenges of flying to destination locations/flight delays so I had planned an extra day just to be sure. I got to FSJ and then drove EIGHT hours solo to Muncho Lake. No cell service most of the way, but when I arrived I was in awe with this emerald green lake that appeared out of nowhere after many hours of raw Canadian shield landscape. I arrived 30 hours after I left home, and met A&J for a walk around the property before taking a much needed slumber before their big day the next morning.
A&J had their ceremony on the lake short, and much like the trip to Muncho Lake, it was unpredictable and at the mercy of things beyond our control. A storm rolled in while they both got ready in separate cabins, and we played chicken with the rain and wind while trying to time their ceremony. Part way through, it started raining and their trusty wedding party had umbrellas on the ready to keep them dry and happy. It rained on and off that day, but we made due with every bit of sunlight we were gifted. Their photos were beyond epic in this other-worldly landscape in the middle of nowhere BC.
