Bannerman Brewing Co. is a small to medium wedding and event venue in Downtown St. John’s, Newfoundland. Location Info

Located in Downtown St. John’s in a character area, nestled on the corner of Duckworth Street and Ordnance St. 

This building used to be a fire hall, but has since been renovated to house Bannerman’s brewery. The brewery also offers small bites in their tasting room, has an outdoor deck (not used for events), and an event space upstairs.

Brief History

Bannerman Brewing Co. is located in the former historic East Fire Station in downtown St. John’s. Originally constructed after the Great Fire of 1892, it was rebuilt in the 1950s and still stands today at the corner of Duckworth and Ordnance street.

During the Great Fire, some 11,000 people lost their homes. Displaced, but not defeated, residents banded together with nothing more than a few belongings to set up a tent city in Bannerman Park. They weathered the aftermath of the fire and re-built the city. It’s this story of collectivism and community that Bannerman Brewing Co. proudly celebrates.

  • If you’re planning a non-traditional wedding, plan for a first look to save time and coordination going anywhere in between the ceremony and reception. Saves logistics given the location is downtown with limited parking. 
  • Getting access to the space to do photos before ceremony time is also recommended in case of poor weather.

Bannerman is not accessible for events, as the event space is up a flight of stairs and there is no elevator.

There is very limited parking on site. Parking would need to be found on street, or in a local parkade (walk to venue).
