Victoria BC Photographer | K&M’s Backyard Wedding
A backyard wedding wasn’t what K&M had originally planned, however the pandemic had other plans for their dream of a larger and more elaborate wedding celebration. K&M are two of the most relaxed couples, so when faced with venue restrictions and closures, they opted to do the damn thing anyway – in their beautiful backyard in Victoria with their nearest and dearest. This was one of my first weddings after the covid-19 lockdown and it was so great to see that love wasn’t cancelled, it just looked a little different this year.
K&M’s family and friends joined them to celebrate their I do’s at their home – a place that was super meaningful to them as it was their first home purchased together, their first big renovation project and where they welcomed their first born – a fluffy pupper. Despite the change in vision, their day was sentimental, relaxed and oh so beautiful.
We started the day with a first look at Mount Douglas Park in Saanich amongst the old growth trees, followed by a romp through a golden grassy field for their portraits. We met their family and friends at their home in Esquimalt and they said their vows with the help of Michael Denton their officiant. Following their ceremony they had a socially distanced reception with a oyster bar, live music by the talented Jill Cooper, and delicious eats by Little Piggy Catering.
My favourite part of their day by far was stealing them away right before it was dark out to capture some quiet moments with them on their front porch (something I wish I got to do with all of my couples!).
